Maricela is “a Mexican, pregnant sixteen-year-old” who is angry and bitter about her situation, and she wishes that her unborn baby would die. With Maricela who has to be there just because of her pregnancy club, and Curtis who plants tomatoes to win Latisha’s heart, to Virgil’s dad who hopes to make a fortune on baby lettuce.
While it seemed odd to have to schedule an event to meet those living around us, it was an important first step in building our neighborhood community. I couldn’t put this book down! Fleischman followed in his father’s footsteps; his father was a children’s author. There’s a new boyfriend to fall in love with in each story. I really didn’t like this book. She is mourning the deth of her father at an ancestral altar. If Fleischman’s designs were to show the healing effects of collaboration and unplugging from technology, wouldn’t it have been so much better to turn Seedfolks into a collaborative effort?
Ugly as it bby be at the beginning, that empty lot is the beating heart of his book. At times this was confusing because it was difficult to follow the sequence of events because they jumped ahead very quickly.
Seedfolks, is a realistic fiction book by Paul Fleischman. I really like that a lot because you can feel and see what has gone in there life and why they are part of the garden.
The Outsiders by S. As people watch her, they follow her lead. Sam is concerned that the people must carry water from outside sources to the garden, and he starts a contest, challenging the children of the area to come up with ideas to solve the problem. First of all, the story has many different characters with different cultures and they all have a separate story with their own reasons to start planting something in the vacant lot.
