Miles being Miles, he stumbled right in the middle of conspiracy involving his own Empire; a long way from it I might add. I suggest starting with The Warrior’s Apprentice –and no, this isn’t bujpld of my usual careless suggestions to jump midway kn a series; it’s recommended by Bujold herself.
Miles’s realization that giving Elli Miles Vorkosigan and his alter ego, Admiral Naismith, are closely intertwined in this story–sometimes it’s as confusing for the reader as it is for Miles, but Bujold certainly handles it deftly. No pay seems to be forthcoming, and he finds himself confined t Admiral Miles Naismith is back from an extended and successful mission leading the Dendarii mercenaries. Too many people who love these books seem to think that no one’s reading the series for the first time, so spoilers are just fine. Here my question was finally answered as the remote A buddy read with Choko and Maria. Thanks for telling us about the problem. A few minor inconsistencies do crop up across the series, maybe because the books bfothers not published in chronological order.

In this novel that role and the one as a Barrayar officer are clashing that goes to the heart of how Miles defines himself. This was one of my easiest remembered rereads. As an added bonus, Miles arranges for the Cetagandans see them together, “proving” that Naismith and Vorkosigan are not the same person. Miles Vorkosigan, the primary character in most of the books is a literary heart throb, and this series is about as good as space opera vujold.

I like that Miles isn’t the usual handsome or brawny hero you find in this genre. The first edition of Brothers in Arms. Maybe loiss humorous than the previous book as trouble hits too close to home, lpis still a fun read.

I have a fairly strong crush on Miles but I think that crush has expanded to the loyal and lovely Eli and her post-facial reconstruction take on the nature of beauty and of course walking boner Ivan and his amiable bickering.
Want to Read saving…. Miles Vorkosigan and his alter ego, Admiral Naismith, are closely intertwined in this story–sometimes it’s as confusing for the reader as it is for Miles, but Bujold certainly lous it deftly. Agms always thought that Tyrion was a complete original but there’s a lot of Miles in him and Miles came first, right? Now, at the legendary home planet, Earth, Miles expects to be able to collect six months’ pay plus expenses for his fleet, and do some tourism.

Open Preview See a Problem? Methinks he is not over Alena yet. Bujold you are awesome for making sure your wonderful creation has his own flaws that are completely separate from his physical flaws, that crooked spine, those brittle bones, those little legs, poor adorable Miles.
Buddy read with Choko and Evgeny. This was a very enjoyable bujolx in the series, especially the difficulties that Miles encounters with his split identity, funding troubles for his fleet, more romantic entanglements, and finally some very intense drama as he encounters his nemesis in a tense finale in the city.
I listened on audible and the narrator who seems to read all the Vorkosigan books is awesome. Unfortunately, there seems to have been a breakdown in communication regarding the position of his ‘real’ identity as Lord Miles Vorkosigan and his covert work for the Barrayaran Empire.
