He is the least plausible, zhibumi ridiculous character in all of western fiction. The book is at times over the top, spoofish, but the real brilliance of the book is the ability to read it on whatever level you librk.

I so wanted to read this book because of my belief that it would have more to do with Japanese culture beyond Snibumi. TASTE the sumptuous flavors served to you in an assassin’s lair! The only reason I didn’t give it 1 star is that there are brief passages that are well written and offer keen insights into either the human condition or the American personality in as much as either truly exists. The result is that he must basically reinvent himself – and he does.
