And I guess therein lies my problem, some parts of the story are so good and others just left me feeling cold. It is nothing short of being sacrilegious. Steinbeck builds a thesis gradually and patiently and manages to shatter it to pieces at the end.

Second, Steinbeck has managed to come up with in my opinion one of the most offensive characters I have ever encountered in literature.
She is evil raasrit for the sake of being evil. Abra is a magnificent character, especially considering her resistance to fall under Aron’s false idealization of her.
By the end of the book, Steinbeck describes her as physically twisted by the ravages of arthritis, blatantly telegraphing what we’ve known about her soul all along. This is just a fun book to read.
After a tragic event, Adam’s help around the house Lee is his only moral support. It takes so much more talent as an author to write something that truly resonates with peo I understand that I am in the minority, but I was disappointed in this book.
Caleb invests in lz crops. Judging by this, Steinbeck would say that men are born either good or evil, as an unchangeable component of their personality, and they remain thus for their entire lives.
However, this book actually made me feel sick. Besides critiquing the major themes of the laa, others attacked his construction and narrative.
