But seriously, Applegate makes a pretty convincing demonstration of why Vikings were so eager to die in battle rather than end up with Hel. There was no number. I did feel like the plot just kept throwing distractions into the series to make it longer, and sometimes that meant the major conflict was lost–with major mythological creatures trying to find and control Senna so they can either allow or prevent travel between worlds.

Senna tries to control him by demonstrating that she can banish his OCD and it’s rare to find a character with mental illness in fiction–especially given that it’s not the focus of the story. Stories Have Power

Here she is very similar to the mythology version. But there was no point resisting. The Everworld series, while fairly basic and elementary, offers such excitement that any Fantasy lover would be hard-pressed not to be drawn into its few pages. David, Christopher, April, all unfortunate visitors from the real world.

In Everworld, and to the Norse, Hell isn’t just a place, it’s a person too- and it’s spelled Hel. He was managing to make clear our dislike for Senna while nevertheless treating her as part of our group. I believe it may involve the attraction of a crystal, or possibly just fluctuations in my own magnetic fields.

You can tell that April, Jalil, David and Christopher have different personalities–they think about different things, have different priorities and reactions to Senna, who is responsible for their situation, but their voices don’t change. That tale will move them and drive them and who knows what they might do because of it, because of your words.

That the danger is too great to face. The teens see and experience some pretty terrible events in this book. First off, I like that they finally stopped with the silly “Everworld logo over a character’s rraper cover design — dverworld it was silly, it obscured the cover, and the design on this book is just so lovely.


But they stick together, and deal with being trapped in Everworld, if they should trust Senna or not, and their own personal qualms. Not sure about Christopher and April, though.

I keep trying to think of how KAA might have fixed the ‘episodic’ issues, but I’m just not sure how it could have been done better in this premise, honestly — they’re just teenagers, plunged into a truly powerless situation.
