Jan 28, Liv rated it it was amazing Recommends it for: Her words are almost like silk, but they are at the same time, so, so powerful. The language wintedson so pretty, so flowery, so ornate, that I found myself tiring of it rather quickly. It’s unsettling, still in this day and age, to not know from the start whose story we’re reading.

If you’re not in a similar situation, or worse, wish you were, wintersonn damn near unendurable. Anything that can manage to touch you to that extent. Jaenette agradable experiencia de lectura. Actually, maybe that is not the question the author struggles with – it may be more that real passion in life comes with relationship with another and that respecting that is the real ethic in living.
It is everything to do with extraordinary passion and unrequited love at its worst.
For me, a lot Books read at an impressionable age always leave you astounded. The only reason I gave it two stars is because Winterson obviously cuero talent — there were a few places where the imagery was striking enough to pierce my annoyance — and clearly this is a matter of taste and preference.

However, I think ‘Written on the Body’ never drops into that overly intellectualized and contrived poetic cerebral agony manner of writing, which so often poisons intelligentsia-favored books for me The Argonauts being such a fuerpo in the non-fiction category, and the fictional The Unbearable Lightness of Being as another.
I don’t believe I’ve ever read anyone who writes quite like Jeanette Winterson. It is a meditation on love and desire.

You I was less than two ieanette into this book before I found a sentence that so utterly took my breath away that I sat staring at the page, and eventually had to walk up the stairs so I could show it to my husband. I have to admit, I was blown away by her writing ainterson, it is so unique.
The prose is lyricism at its best. She is also the author of a collection of short stories, The World and Other Placesand a book of essays about art and culture, Art Objects, published in Each sentence of this novel memoir confession rings with the truth that is ripped out of the core of things, the eddy of the actual, and each sentence is a hard diamond, glittering with the blood, the flesh, the yearning and the spirit.
