What I would like is a qualitative study of conversation between colleagues to identify if the senior faculty are treating minority faculty differently – giving more thought to some than others. I suppose this piece of advice is not actually that surprising, but for some reason I never thought about extending the value that I got from getting frequent teaching feedback to the potential value I could get from getting frequent research feedback.
Looking at how the experts successful new faculty do it offers a sound, evidence-based perspective.

It also dwells far too much on convincing the reader that the advice works, rather than just getting on with it and giving some practical advice.

It is the first guidebook to move beyond anecdotes and surmises for its directives, based on the author’s extensive experience and solid research in the areas of staff and faculty development. This book has a lot of really excellent advice to help any new faculty member survive their first years on the job.
However, I failed to realize that this would inevitably lead to not wanting to write the next day and having a hard time starting next time I write. Ken rated it liked it Aug 07, I read the first half of the book and skimmed the second half. No eBook available Amazon.
