Very thorough, this book can easily be used as a sort of encyclopedia. But of course, when conquerors succeed in occupying another land militarily and politically, the next thing to be done is to eradicate the culture as it exists, and to pretend there WAS no history before the conqueror arrived aside, perhaps, from kerone brief reference to how bad it bnnett to be. If you are of African ancestry you have to know your history before you can put your eyes on the future, with success.

The other minor quibble I have with it is that Bennett relies mainly on secondary source material — all fine and good for a survey for general consumption but leaves a mild disappointment lerlne seeking the unadorned, unfiltered truth.
