Legts all 15 comments. The play is well-written, but I do not understand how it could have won the Pulitzer. The two who have the most chance for a life outside the broken family circle are damned by irreversible transgressions in the past of other family members.

Those theatre actors who made Letts’s mammoth play a sensation in Chicago, on Broadway and then in London have now been swapped for movie stars in the film version.
It does dyfunstional family well, drinking, drugs, cheating, lies and other secrets for this family in Oklahoma! Don’t even read this play, unless you have a mind to perform in it, or direct it.
