Do you like spending time thinking about what food you eat, and how to shirk responsibilities? Refresh and try again. I feel into the trap that so many others fall into. Don’t the authors have the upcoming holidays and such to take away writing time?

Past a certain point, novel planning just becomes another excuse to put off novel writing. This site uses cookies. Maybe the idea of a deadline makes you want to curl up under your desk and cry. NaNoWriMo provides collective support and procrastination via its website, emails and offline gatherings around the world. It taught that there are stages in writing where quantity is genuinely more important than quality, which can be a difficult lesson for a writer to learn.

He has the grace to admit that of the 5 manuscripts he personally produced up to that point for NaNo, 2 were completely unsalvageable when faced with the editing process. It also does a really good job of reminding readers that writing is a process, and part of that process is to simply get a complete book written, regardless of how bad or messy it is.
