Nobody relates to the word as to the thing to which it refers: In order for the viewer to grasp the artistic intention behind the art work, the viewer must know or come to understand dantto meanings that the artist infused into the work. And it is the great value of such disciplines as the history of art and literature to make such works approachable again.
