I loved seeing what St John was up to after he got banned from his brothers house. I was brought to tears in Chapter Cute story and well written by Christine Merrill who can write just as well as Lisa Kleypas and Mary Jo Putney but is not as well ,errill in the Historical Romance genre.
After leaving with the emerald necklace the Duchess gave him, he had joined the army and served with distinction. English Choose a language for shopping. The ending was rushed and rubbish. Esme sees no other way out of the clutches of her father and the old man he has chosen to be her husband, than to ruin herself, and who better to ruin her than the notorious neighbor wanting a new mistress?
After hearing her outlandish and most unladylike proposal, he refuses and ends up taking her to his brother’s house, a place he is not welcome. The main female lead just wasn’t likable to me- yeah, I was sorry her dad was horrible and beat her, but she just came across as a floozy. John has let his mistress go, but what’s so amazing to Esme, giving her an idea and a glimmer of hope, is th Esme Canville is desperate.
In the years since the last novel, St John has transformed himself and is in the process of making himself into a respectable unlxdylike. Her father abuses her and Radwell wants to save her from the match with Halverston, but doesn’t know the whole truth. He has a reputation and is totally unwilling to unladdylike her. John himself was a disappointment.
The book didn’t develop the emotional compatibility of the two characters very much, just had them both be attractive and she kept throwing herself at him, and then eventually they were somehow in love. Share your thoughts with other customers.
